Pine Lake is located in Carnforth which is a town in the southern part of the Lake District. The Lake District is one of the most beautiful parts of the United Kingdom, home to the biggest lake in the UK which is Lake Windermere, and also boasts the biggest mountain in England, Scafell Pike.

If you love the outdoors and seeing the best of the British countryside, then the Lake District offers some of the best sights and walks in the United Kingdom. The Lake District is also home to some classic idillic British towns.

Pine Lake is an amazing place to base yourself from if you want to see the Lake District, and the Scottish border is only a short drive away. The famous seaside towns of Morecambe and Arnside are less than 30 minutes away. This is one of the nearest resorts to my home, so it is a place I have visited on a number of occasions. It’s perfect for a long weekend and offers an amazing relaxing environment with some beautiful scenery.

During the summer months the lake is open to numerous boating activities from waterskiing, jet skiing and I have even seen an inflatable sofa tied to the back of a boat being pulled across the lake.

Our first stay was back in 2004 and I was thoroughly disappointed with the accommodation; it looked tired and in need of renovation.  Since then the lodges have been revamped and are now of a standard that you would expect from Diamond Resorts.

There is an onsite game zone area with various activities to keep the kids entertained. Situated next to the game zone is a family lounge with a toddlers play area and library for reading books.

The onsite restaurant is of a really good standard and the bar area situated next to it is perfect for a relaxing drink.

Pine Lake also has an entertainment lounge with various activities on offer. These vary from family bingo nights to musical tribute acts and evenings discos.

The onsite leisure hub has a swimming pool, sauna, jacuzzi and steam room. As with most of the Diamond Resorts UK sites that I have been to, the swimming pools tend to be quite small in size. That said, the pool at Pine Lake is probably one of the larger ones in Diamond Resorts UK portfolio.

[/column] You are unlikely to break any Olympic swimming records but it is perfect for a leisurely swim. The onsite gym is also very basic but the site is large enough to go for a run, which I much prefer than using the onsite gym, especially given the beautiful surroundings. It would be a waste to go running on a treadmill. Next to the leisure hub there is also a couple of tennis courts.

There is a Tesco located nearby and a Booths supermarket. The accommodation has brilliant cooking facilities and a dishwasher should you fancy cooking one evening, overlooking the lake as you enjoy your evening meal. The master bedroom in the accommodation we stayed in had a flat screen TV as did the living room. The room also has a DVD player and movies can be hired from the reception for a small fee.

I alway look forward to our visits to Pine Lake not just because they are a short drive from my home but because the resort is a credit to the way Diamond Resorts have invested in a property to bring it to an amazing standard.
