Cypress Pointe Resort and Grand Villas. Located two miles from Downtown Disney and Walt Disney Florida Resorts

This is perhaps my favourite resort when taking that holiday vacation to Orlando, Florida. It has everything a family needs for that perfect trip. It’s about a 60 minute drive from Orlando International Airport, a five minute drive from downtown Disney, a ridiculous amount of restaurants nearby, three swimming pools, spacious accommodation, a Winn Dixie supermarket right next door and Charlie the parrot.

A taxi cab from the airport is approximately 50 bucks with tips, tolls and taxes. Although most visitors to Orlando take advantage of the cheap car hire.

The Resort

The site is split into two with one-half being owned by Diamond Resorts, this side of the site known as Grand Villas and the other a Diamond Resorts affiliate resort. From a points perspective, Grand Villas are slightly more expensive and a better standard of resort and accommodation.

Grand Villas has two large swimming pools whereas Cypress Pointe has only one large swimming pool. The Cypress Pointe Pool has a large volcano and three small water slides. There is also a poolside cafe and games room. The basketball and tennis courts are on the Cypress Pointe side of the resort.

The Grand Villas side has crazy golf, an on site shop which is located poolside, a kids club, a children’s park and BBQ grills for those must have outdoor BBQs. Whichever side you are staying on you get access to the facilities at both Cypress Pointe Resort and Grand Villas. Just remember that Grand Villas now has its own check-in desk, whereas when I first visited Cypress Pointe Resort and Grand Villas in 2010 there was one check in desk for both sides.

The best thing about Cypress Pointe Resort and Grand Villas is the location. Universal Studios is a 20-25 minute drive away, Disney is less that five minutes. Being that close to Disney property most of the accommodation in the area is hotels and motels, I have stayed in a two and three bed condo and the amount of space in either of them for a family is vast.

As this is a timeshare resort one of the easiest ways to get discounted theme park tickets is to attend one of their presentations. Ask at guest services for details of what offers they have available. For attending a presentation, which take between two and four hours, you can pick which theme park or other attraction you would like to go to. Usually, they have offers on all the theme parks and Orlando attractions.

Cypress Pointe Resort and Grand Villas Family Fun

My children love the on site kids club which is very reasonably priced. There are arts and crafts activities, games, treasures hunts and a whole host of other fun things for them to do.

Once a week they have a BBQ by the Grand Villas pool which like all the on site activities is very cheap. They had family entertainment so the children could play games and enter various quizzes and competitions.

No doubt I will be returning sometime soon as I absolutely love this resort, my kids love Charlie the parrot who is lives in the Cypress Pointe reception. I cannot think of one negative thing to say about it!
